Sailing Cruises

Sailboats are the traditional, peaceful, economical, and cultural way to see the Caribbean coast. Experience the luxury of a competent captain, full staff, a spacious, comfortable ride and unlimited cargo capacity.

Stay in a hut over inviting tropical waters. Enjoy delicious meals of the freshest seafood. Catch fish, relaxing in a hammock while sailing. The chains of island communities that dot Nicaragua's Caribbean Coast provide ample terrain to explore with a sailboat.

Our sailing trips frequently visit the Miskito Cays. A visit to a coastal community is also a perfect way to breakup your time on the water and have a new experience. Check out our section on Village Visits.

Sailing trips are a minimum of 4 days.

Here is one of our favorite sailing adventures on the Miskito Coast:

  • Day 1: Begin in Puerto Cabezas. Orientation around town & market for any last minute needs. Evening Departure to the Miskito Cays. Overnight on the boat in a hammock.
  • Day 2: Breakfast on Cayo Wiplin. Chance for a swim and to check out the lobster diving industry. Afternoon departure to Miskito Cay. Fish in the channels between the islands. Stop to snorkel and swim and have a picnic lunch. Sleep in a private house on stilts on Miskito Cay.
  • Day 3: Early morning fishing (optional). Departure from Miskito Cay after breakfast. Sail to Diamond Spot. Lunch on the boat. Fishing, swimming, snorkeling and exploring along the way. Dinner and stay overnight in a private home on Diamond Spot.
  • Day 4: Depart Diamond Spot to Puerto Cabezas after breakfast.

It is necessary to have an overlap day to ensure that you're at the airport in time for your flight. Consider including one of our Discovery Workshops in Puerto Cabezas.
